道路交通法上、自転車は自動車やバイクと同じ軽車両（車の仲間）で、違反すると大目に見ることなく、青切符対象です。
Under the Road Traffic Act, bicycles are classified as "light vehicles." It’s no longer safe to assume that “minor offenses won’t matter”. Starting in April 2026, Japan’s bicycle rules have changed, with the introduction of the “blue ticket” system (on-the-spot fines). Actions that were often overlooked in the past—such as riding with an umbrella or using a smartphone while cycling—can now result in fines.

二人乗り=riding double, 横並び走行=side-by-side riding, 逆走=wrong-way riding等も対象です。
自転車は歩道走行は原則禁止ですが、例外もあり複雑です。
The rules for riding on sidewalks are complicated. Riding on the sidewalk is banned in principle, but permitted if signs indicate it is allowed. People under 13 or 70 and older, and those with a certain level of disability, can also ride on sidewalks. In addition, a cyclist can ride on the sidewalk if heavy traffic or a narrow road makes it dangerous to ride on the street.
