11月24日三連休の最終日、東京・足立区で乗用車が歩行者に突っ込む事故がありました。
A car rammed into pedestrians in Tokyo on Monday.

意識不明で病院に搬送された80歳男性と28歳の女性は、その後死亡が確認されました。その他9名が負傷しました。
A woman in her 20s and an 80-year-old man were taken to the hospital unconscious.

According to witnesses, they recalled hearing a woman shouting for an automated external defibrillator — a medical device for used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest — and saw someone administering chest compressions.

運転手は大混乱のひき逃げに続いて、玉突き事故も引き起こしました。現場から逃走していた37歳男性が逮捕されました。
Investigators say the crashes began when the suspect allegedly ignored a red light. The vehicle then veered onto a sidewalk, where it traveled roughly 100 meters and ran over four more people.

In addition to striking pedestrians, the car also hit a truck and caused a six-vehicle pileup, injuring a passenger. The driver left the car and fled on foot.

Tokyo police have arrested a 37-year-old man in a chaotic hit-and-run.
事件の前、近くの自動車販売店から試乗車が盗難されており、その追跡中の事故でした。
About two hours prior to the incident, police received a call saying someone had stolen a car with no license plate that was on display from a dealership. Police later saw the stolen car near the dealership and began pursuing it. The police said the accident happened during the chase.

According to the police, the man, whose occupation is unknown, is denying the theft charges, saying he "did not steal the car" but "ran out of the store to test-drive it."

Police are also continuing to investigate other circumstances regarding the incident, including the suspect’s intent and mental state at the time of the crash. The suspect's name has been withheld as police determine whether he can be held criminally responsible.
